The role of hospitality design chairs in unique environments
Hospitality design chairs are an essential part of how a space feels, how it is experienced, and how it is remembered. In high-altitude hospitality design, where the natural environment influences every decision, the choice of seating becomes even more critical. Hospitality design chairs combine comfort, durability, and style to enhance guest experiences.
Here, lounge chairs for hospitality and restaurant dining chairs must deliver comfort in all seasons, withstand environmental stress, and harmonise with the surrounding architecture. This was the context for a hospitality project in the French Alps, in the alpine town of Chamonix.
Known for its spectacular landscapes and contrasting seasons, Chamonix requires interiors that are warm and welcoming in winter, but open and cool in summer.
In the hospitality sector, the right seating therefore meets both the operational needs of a space and the emotional expectations of guests.
For these reasons, contract furniture for hotels such as Fornasarig’s is designed with this dual role in mind: ergonomically precise, aesthetically versatile, and made with high-quality, sustainable materials that stand the test of time.
Two Fornasarig models were selected for this alpine hospitality project: the Kite Lounge armchair and the Deore chair. Although each serves a different function within the hotel, both share the same purpose: to enhance the guest experience through comfort, durability, and understated design.
Kite Lounge armchair
The Kite Lounge is characterised by its light geometry and enveloping form. Its wide, low proportions invite guests to rest in a relaxed posture—perfect for moments after a day in the mountains. Kite Lounge offers relaxed seating with a visual link to the surrounding landscape. The silhouette subtly echoes the slopes outside, creating a visual connection between interior and landscape.
Positioned in lounge and common areas, it offered a smooth transition from outdoor openness to indoor comfort, making it a perfect example of hotel lounge furniture that blends form and function.
Deore chair
The Deore chair brought a different kind of presence: clean lines, precise angles, and a minimalist shell that complements a variety of materials and finishes. In this project, Deore was placed in the restaurant dining areas, where its ergonomic comfort supported both short meals and long conversations. Deore dining chairs balance ergonomic support with a refined restaurant aesthetic.
The design created coherence between rustic textures and refined service—an approach that reflects Fornasarig’s experience in creating sustainable hotel furniture tailored for intensive use.
Materials, sustainability, and endurance
When designing high-altitude hospitality facilities, chairs must be able to withstand sudden changes in humidity and temperature, as well as frequent use. Sustainable materials and FSC-certified wooden chairs guarantee long-term performance in hospitality spaces. Both Kite Lounge and Deore are designed to function in such demanding and stressful conditions.
The production process for these Fornasarig furniture items begins with the selection of FSC-certified wood from responsible sources and recyclable components. Production methods are also carefully optimized to reduce waste and environmental impact, ensuring that the furniture complies with modern global sustainability standards.
The various upholstery options add warmth and texture to all furniture designs, while the structural elements, both in wood and metal, are treated to ensure durability.
This ensures that the chairs maintain their comfort and visual integrity over time, offering long-term value for hospitality venues that require both durability and elegance.
The Fornasarig approach in hospitality and beyond
What makes Fornasarig’s designer chairs for the hospitality sector unique, beyond their renowned quality, is their easy adaptability to the projects of many interior designers.
In this project, Kite Lounge and Deore have complemented the visual architecture in a refined yet decisive manner, satisfying both aesthetic and operational requirements.
The same philosophy has been applied in various contexts around the world, for example:
- SLA Bar Salad – Netherlands: Wolfgang Metal in a plant-based dining concept with a sustainable mission.
- Maison Krug – France: Amati Lounge and Moka chairs customised for a heritage hospitality venue.
- Paven Restaurant – Finland: Wolfgang seating blending comfort with a maritime location.
- Numa Kudamm – Berlin: Wolfgang and Link Outdoor across guest rooms and terraces.
- Hotel EduCARE – Austria: Wolfgang Lounge and Link60X furnishing guest rooms and conference spaces.
- Urana Aquatic Centre – Australia: Link60X for flexible indoor and outdoor use.
From Chamonix to Berlin, Helsinki to Reims, Fornasarig has long been an international benchmark in many furnishing projects, where designer chairs and armchairs for the hospitality sector are essential for combining ergonomic comfort, quality materials, and respect for the environment.
… and in the competitive hospitality sector, this means creating spaces where guests feel at ease, staying attuned to people’s comfort needs, and offering a high level of hospitality that lasts over time.
This is what Fornasarig guarantees to everyone who purchases its furniture products.
